As Bethenny Frankel once said, “Your diet is a bank account. Good food choices are good investments.”
What we eat not only affects us physically, it affects us mentally as well. Well-balanced, nutritious diet is the key to good health. The path to good health can be difficult but it’s important you don’t lose sight of your goals.
With that in mind, many individuals still struggle with their health, even after “eating healthy”. The reason is because the food marketed to us as ‘healthy’ by the food industry is actually rich in GMOs.
Have you ever noticed how despite eating healthy, you still feel depressed? Natural foods are supposed to help make our body and mind strong. But most of the ‘natural’ foods we find in the supermarket are processed goods.
But by purchasing organic foods, it’s possible to live a healthy, worry-free life.
Here are some reasons why you should add organic foods to your diet:
Fewer Pesticides:The food sold in the super market doesn’t isn’t just processed, it contains pesticides such as insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides. These are widely used to protect crops. But instead of protecting them, these harsh chemicals stick to the roots of the crop.
Therefore, when the crops are sold in the market, they’re laden with harmful chemicals. Swallowing these chemicals can result in health complications. Organic foods, on the other hand, have fewer pesticides. These pesticides aren’t harmful to health, and protect crops without damaging them.
- Naturally Raised Animals Aren’t Fed Antibiotics: Livestock raised in organic farms aren’t fed growth hormones, antibiotics or animal by-products.
- Organic Foods are Richer in Antioxidants.A study conducted by the University of Newcastle shows that organic foods are higher in antioxidants than their processed counterpart.
The study also shows that they don’t contain heavy, toxic metals, unlike processed goods. In addition, the amount of permitted contamination levels set by the European Commission is less in organic foods, by at least 50 percent.
Organic food is GMO-free. Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) or genetically engineered (GE) foods are the result of DNA-altering of plants. The DNA is altered to help make crops immune to insects. But, in reality, the crops are dangerous to consume.
GMO-rich foods are not only not immune to insects, they are the result of crossbreeding plants. These results are unnatural, and GMO plants are created using harmful methods.
GMO-rich foods are also dangerous for the environment. Because they are laden with chemicals, and are genetically produced, they not only destroy the nutritious properties of some crops, they destroy different types of plants as well.
One of the benefits of organic foods is that they are freshly produced. You don’t have to worry about pesticides or how they were grown. They are grown in organic farms and directly sold to consumers.
Organic foods as can also be taken in the form of supplements or powders. They help keep the mind and body fresh, and are free of chemicals.
